Overwhelming Call for Papers response, demands undersea defence technology sessions
With well over 200 abstracts submitted to the MAST conference committee, the maritime security and defence community has ‘voted’ unanimously for MAST to embrace the undersea defence community.
The decision to actively encourage senior-level undersea (operational and technical) specialists to present at MAST, has resulted in a near-doubling of the total number of abstracts sent to the selecting committee.
Submitted abstracts represent an increase in both quantity and quality of ‘traditional’ MAST domain papers. With so many for the selecting committee to chose from, regular MAST delegates are guaranteed that this year’s MAST conference will deliver the best value ever.
And with nearly 40% of ‘new’ abstracts representing the undersea domain, MAST will host – subject to Committee decision in Cadiz, Spain in two weeks time – the very best undersea papers in at least two dedicated undersea-specific conference streams.
Therefore, those undersea defence/security specialists who have yet to take part in MAST, now have the exciting prospect of attending the first-in-class conference to discuss undersea defence technology at the system-of systems level (and within the holistic maritime security and defence framework).
“No other event I have worked on has ever achieved such a high number of submissions,” stated MAST Business Director, Jackie Baron. “The MAST committee now has the considerable challenge of selecting the best papers for presentation, and creating the most authoritative maritime security/defence conference timetable ever seen.”
- The MAST 2008 programme will be finalised by the Committee in Cadiz, Spain in two weeks time. See future eNews for details.
RESON A/S confirm trade-show booth
With exhibition space now selling fast for this year’s annual MAST trade-show, Danish underwater acoustic company RESON has secured its participation this November in Cadiz, Spain.
RESON’s sonar systems, transducers and hydrophones are used in a large number of naval and security applications including waterside security and mine countermeasures, and will allow the company to demonstrate solutions to be discussed widely in the MAST conference.
Meet tomorrow’s leaders, today: MAST Student passes
In order to sustain and grow throughput of the top minds into key government, R&D and industry positions, MAST’s organiser believes the need to invest at the ‘grass roots’ level of the various sub-sectors within the maritime security and defence community is stronger than ever (witness the launch of the annual Evolutionary Award for Excellence at the very first MAST event).
This year, MAST’s organisers will take their commitment one stage further by offering a heavily discounted (by 70%) rate to attend all three days of MAST at one low rate. Students will be extended every benefit of the ‘regular’ delegate package, but at a price that even the tightest of student grants could accommodate (just 250 euros).
- Bona fide students from relevant academic institutions (naval academies, R&D universities, etc.) can register via the downloadable booking form.
MAST periodically emails all members of the MAST Community with information on the MAST event and related matters.
