Exhibitor Steering Group

Formed in October 2010, and chaired by L3 Elac Nautik’s Assistant Marketing & Sales, Britta Hawkins (assisted by several leading commercial figures) the MAST Exhibition Steering Group will meet regularly and identify new interfaces and opportunities within the global security and defence community, and determine how MAST’s events and social networks can best facilitate these.

“Clearly it is important for exhibitors (and visitors) to express their views about any event, but only through meeting and working through ideas together can solutions be found.

“Collectively we are happy to call ourselves the MAST community, so it’s no good simply highlighting problems and leaving them to fester: The MAST Community Steering Group will collate concerns, discuss them and devise a plan of action as a team. Changes have to make sense for everyone”
— Britta Hawkins, L3 Elac Nautik

Already – following their inaugural meeting during MAST 2010 – the group has decided upon several landmark changes/additions to the MAST exhibition profile, including:

  1. Exhibition located features (e.g. workshops, product briefings, market analysis, one-to-one Q&A booths) to give “pure exhibition visitors” added-value to attend;
  2. Longer coffee breaks to give delegates more time to discussing specific technology requirements with exhibitors (coffee breaks and lunches to be held in the exhibition hall);
  3. Guaranteed meeting time for all exhibitors with all MAST TCC members;
  4. Managed tours of the exhibition for Delegations, VIPs, etc;
  5. Closer coordination between the conference content/topics and exhibitors’ displays (and personnel) to maximise exhibitor/delegate interface by job functions

Anyone interested in being nominated to join the group, should email Warren Edge ASAP. The first meeting will take place in Marseille, France in February 2011.

The MAST conference is extremely worthwhile: our organization is already planning to have a bigger presence next year.
